A Day At The Park

Earlier this week we took a quiet outing to the Andre Citroen park.  We saw some beautiful fall colors and enjoyed being in a peaceful environment that seemed pretty tourist-free (except for us).

Enjoying the fountains.
It was the kind of day where you realize after you've left the house and
been in public that your child is wearing their shirt inside out.  Oh well.
The park had a number of gardens organized
by color.  This was the green garden.
This is the blue garden.
I'm sure the colors look better in the summer.
We discovered an American market around the corner from our apartment.  It was fun to see all the American grocery items that aren't widely available in France.  But I can't imagine who is willing to pay 5.5 euros ($7.50) for a can of Easy Cheese, 6.5 ($8) euros for a bag of candy corn, or 9 ($12) euros for a small jar of peanut butter.

Notice the tiny American flags.

The salsa was a little tempting.  Do you see
the baking powder!?!?!?  I spent weeks looking
for that and ended up buying an industrial sized bag.
Our last stop of the day was to do some souvenir shopping and since we were in the neighborhood we couldn't resist stopping at our favorite little creperie.

butter, cinnamon, and sugar (a little churo-esque)

You've got to find a seat wherever you can.

We love this place.  No, not the student bar.
The creperie next door.  Although the student bar
is probably also good.

On our way to the metro we just happened to walk by Ernest Hemingway's house.  I was especially excited since next week I am hosting a book group with the students for the book The Paris Wife which is a novel about Ernest Hemingway's wife Hadley.
