Our latest trip with the students was a three day trip to Normandy. We spent the first day seeing WWII sites. Our plans to visit the American Military Cemetery were thwarted by the U.S. government shutdown. I had been thinking it was a good time to be out of the U.S. Who knew we'd be effected by all that craziness here. Luckily, quick thinking Chris made arrangements for us to visit the Canadian Cemetery instead. He has always had a not-so-secret love of all things Canadian (i.e. Celine Dion).
We also visited the German Military Cemetery. It was darker and more spare than the Canadian Cemetery, but it was still really beautiful.

| There were a lot of unnamed soldiers. |
In between the cemetery visits we went to Juno beach and the Arromanches D-Day Museum. This beach was the site of an artificial harbor that was prefabricated in England then brought across the channel to France. It provided a place for supplies to be distributed to allied troops. Remnants of the harbor are still along the beach.

| Twins. Whitney Palmer and me. |

| The kids LOVED playing in the water. |
 |
| The students loved it too. |

Luke should have given up trying to keep his
pants dry. They were already soaked. |
 |
| Dead crab. |

Things got crazy on the bus ride home. I'm not going to
say how many people had their pants off, just that
it was more than one. |
