Musee d'Orsay

I loved the Musee d'Orsay.  It contains French art from the 1800s and early 1900s.  The building itself, a former train station, is a work of art.  To me it was a more enjoyable experience than the Louvre.  It wasn't too crowded and the size wasn't overwhelming.  It has a large collection of Impressionism - Manet, Monet, Renoir, Degas, Van Gogh, Cezanne, and Gauguin.  I was most excited that I got to go back the next day with art history class and learn the background and context for some of the paintings.

Ground floor.  You weren't supposed to take any pictures
in the museum, but Isaac took this as we were going in.
This picture almost shows the amazing
view out the window.  (We are on the 5th floor.)
We assumed the no picture rule didn't apply to
this area where there was no art work.
The clock was the inspiration for the clock in Hugo.
A place to rest next to the clock.

Outside in the cold.

Here are a few things we saw:

We took these pictures for Max.  Can he name the animal and the cousin?

  1. Ok, ok, Max will look at this tomorrow morning. He will for sure know the cousins! He will know the animals too and make noises. He is currently in bed in his bear costume :)
