Trip to Normandy Day 2

We spent the first night in Bayeux.  We stayed at a great little hotel that felt like an inn or bed and breakfast, although our room had been strangely modernized and contained a large, stuffed tiger.  The main attraction in Bayeux is the tapestry which is an embroidered 240 foot long cloth that depicts William the Conqueror and the Norman conquest of England.  There is also a beautiful cathedral in the center of town.

The hotel wanted to take a group photo with us and the American flag.

Pizza dinner.

From the menu - "The bread is a bread pizza kabab house filled ans baked like a pizza it comes with chip and/or salad."

Luke got the top bunk.
The tiger.

We had a yummy and filling English breakfast.

The Bayeux Lovers.
I bought a postcard of this statue and the
man at the gift shop was trying to ask me if I'd seen the statue
in the church (I think).  We had a very awkward attempt at a
conversation.  I asked some students to come and help me, but
they didn't seem to speak French any better than me.  After a lot of pointing
I figured it out.

You aren't allowed to take pictures of the Bayeux Tapestry.  These images are from wikipedia.  To view the tapestry you walk around an enclosed case and wear a headset that describes the images and plays conquesty-type music (it reminded me of Monty Python).  The detail of the tapestry is pretty amazing.
