More Sight Seeing

Here are some highlights from last week.

We visited the Memorial de la Shoah (Holocaust Memorial).  It is a really beautiful museum commemorating the 76,000 French Jews deported during WWII.  It was built in 1995 (I realized while we were there that it is probably the newest building we had been in since we left America).  We went through the memorial pretty quickly.  In part because everything was in French and in part because there were some graphic images we wanted the kids to avoid.  This picture is at the wall of names.  This is just a small section of the stone walls containing the 76,000 names.

The Musee Carnavalet is the museum of the history of the city of Paris.  For some reason Chris really wanted to go here.   It has a great collection of artifacts from the French Revolution and Chris gave me a brief lesson as we walked through and then said "you know I write about this all the time and you could read something I've written."  I guess my questions made it clear I didn't know much about it and obviously I'm the worst wife ever for not having read what he has written.  I'll add it to my "to read" list, along with his first book!

Statue of Louis XIV in the front courtyard.

One of many miniature replicas of Paris in the museum.
We had a few items we needed to get for the apartment and so we went to BHV, a large department store near city hall.  The kids took a break on the massage chairs.  Luke seems to be really enjoying it.

Yum!
