Church was literally standing room only this Sunday. We got there early enough to get a seat (but not early enough to get translation headphones) and early enough for Isaac to get asked to pass the sacrament. He was the only young man, so it was him and 4 adults. He did a great job. Part way through the meeting we could see out the window into the courtyard an amazing head of hair approaching. There was no mistaking it... Mitt Romney (or Mitt-Bot Rominator as we like to call him). He and his wife Ann have been visiting Paris (some of our students had run into them a few days before at the Louvre) and he was giving a fireside for young single adults later that night. The counselor conducting asked him to come up and say a few words. He declined the English translation and gave a very nice testimony in French (Chris had to translate it for me). He talked about his time in France as a missionary and his experience with French people and he talked about his love of the gospel of Jesus Christ. He clearly wasn't completely comfortable speaking in French, but I thought it was a very polite gesture. After the meeting he stepped into the youth classes and took a picture with the kids. He and Isaac had a brief exchange. He said to Isaac (in French) do you speak French and Isaac said (in English) no; end of conversation. I guess that's better than saying "my parents didn't vote for you and neither did I in my class mock election!"

The Primary Children (minus Luke since he refused to go). Libby is in the back row you can
see the blond hair and blue eyes. Not sure about the guy watching from the window. |
