Yesterday we found out our friend and neighbor David Lange passed away. We are heartbroken for the Lange family. We love and admire them. David and Janice were Luke's fabulous nursery leaders whom he affectionately called "Sister Wang and Sister Wang." David has been one of Isaac's young mens leaders since he turned 12. He cared about the boys and taught them it was okay to do hard things. (To read about the many other things he taught the boys see our friend Chad's beautiful tribute
here .)
The day before we left for Paris, David walked to our house to say good-bye. Even though he just lived two houses away he struggled with the walk. His lungs had been severely damaged by chemotherapy. We talked about how by the time we got back he would be feeling more like himself. We wish we could be there to tell Janice and her family how sorry we are.
I've been thinking all day about mourning with those that mourn and comforting those that stand in need of comfort. I'm not sure how you do that from so far away. We are grateful to have known David.

It does feel hard at times like this to be so far away. David was my mom's brother and such a fun uncle! I live in Atlanta and cannot make it to the funeral. Your kids journal entries made me smile, thank you for that.
